Martyn Irvine rode well but could only in 10th place in the Men’s Scratch Race final in Paris tonight.

Irvine took gold and silver in this event in 2013 and 2014 respectively but he struggled to stay within range of the leading group tonight as he was unable to come up with enough in the sprint finish.

It was initially reported that the Newtownards cyclist had finished 14th but the updated results revealed he had finished four places better off.

It was a pick of five for the medals at the line and they were awarded to Germany’s Lucas Liss (Gold), Spain’s Albert Torres (Silver) and America’s Bobby Lea (Bronze).
