He may be 60 years of age but Seán Kelly is still as fit as a fiddle. When he goes for a training spin, he goes the whole hog.
Enjoying a training camp with his An Post Chain Reaction Cycles team in southern Spain, the former Vuelta Champion was never going to ham it up.
He may now bring home the bacon as a popular Eurosport commentator, but he would not want his young charges to forget that he was once one of the most feared Grand Tour specialists in the world.
For the record, this Col de Rates descent is no cocktail (sausage) party. It is downright scary with a series of turns as curly as a pig’s tail.
Unfortunately Kelly made a pig’s ear of the whole thing when he hit a porcine obstacle. In fairness, his weak smile is a decent attempt at turning the whole affair into a silk purse.
Serious crash in the descent of #ColDeRates today for one of the best descenders in the world! A wild pig crossed #KingKelly his pad! pic.twitter.com/9IQIsHkW44

Either the deceased pig was already deceased when Kelly hit it, or else the Waterford native chopped him down. The swine.
We’re going to stop now before we boar you.
RIP pig.
