If a serious, rewarding physical challenge is your Quest then we have the race for you.

This weekend, over 1,500 of the fittest, fun-seeking adventurers will descend on the Kingdom to put their mettle to the test in the Quest Killarney.

Killarney National Park will be the setting as they will run, cycle, kayak in the testing conditions in the latest stage of the world’s biggest adventure race series – the Quest Adventure Series.

Like all great marathons, it’s more about finishing the race than winning and this one can take as long as 6 hours to get through.

This specific, highly exclusive event has been sold out since the start of the year but fans of all sports are encouraged to drop by to get a glimpse of the action, as an epic after party at the Gleneagle Hotel will follow the event, with music and food on offer for both the competitors and the spectators.

Athletes competing in the Kayaking section on Muckross Lakes in The Helly Hensen Killarney Adventure Race, took place at the weekend in Killarney National Park, over 1800 athletes competed in the gruelling multi-activity race with three categories, 69km, 59km and 27km, including, mountain runs on Strickeen Mountain, Mangerton and Torc Mountains, cycling through the Gap of Dunloe, Black Valley, Molls Gap, kayaking on Muckross Lake and cycling though the oakwoods of Muckross Peninsula, finishing at The Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney.Photo:Valerie O'Sullivan/NO REPRO FEE/issed 06-10-2013

And if you’re thinking about taking part in future adventure races, don’t be put off by how exhausting it sounds as there are routes for competitors of all fitness levels, including the 33-kilometre sport route and the 55km expert route.

If you can’t make it to this weekend, fear not because there will be an event in Glendalough on April 23rd, Achill on September 3rd and a return to beautiful Killarney on October 1st.
