The use of PEDS in sport in Ireland is very much a taboo subject.
Very few athletes at the top level have been found to have taken illegal substances, thankfully.
However, that’s not to say that there could be some Irish sportspeople taking substances that they shouldn’t, and so far have been lucky not to get caught.
Anyone who thinks that the use of performance enhancers is not something that Irish people are interested in should think again, after a major drug seizure in Dublin’s south inner city.
According to Gardai, two men were arrested after approximately 26,000 steroid tablets and 4,000 steroid ampoules were found following a search of a number of premises on Thursday.

The drugs were found as part of a joint operation involving the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, the Divisional Drugs Unit in Kevin Street, and officers from the Health Products Regulatory Authority.
The drugs are understood to have originated in Romania, and are believed to have a street value of €30,000.
Two men, in their 30s and 40s, were arrested in connection with the operation and taken to Kevin Street Garda station for questioning
They were subsequently released, and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
