Paul O’Donovan and his double-sculls partner Fintan McCarthy have won the Olympic Gold medal.
An absolutely outstanding achievement, and one that has caused a wonderful reaction from rowing and Irish fans everywhere.
However, who else could appreciate the blood, sweat and tears that goes into winning such an enormous feat, better than those who are immersed in sport themselves.
Upon returning to the Olympic Village after securing their prize, Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy received were greeted with a wonderful welcome.
Rapturous rounds of applause, whistles, and cheers surrounded them, as fellow athletes and workers, showed their appreciation to the newly crowned Olympic champions.
