A day after helping to eliminate Team GB in the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls semi-final, Gary and Paul O’Donovan joked, “Tis great to beat the Brits.”
Just over 24 hours later and the Cork rowers were interviewed by the BBC after claiming silver medal in a tense, break-neck final.
O'Donovan heroes bring back silver and we can't bloody wait for the interview https://t.co/Lfk2fePQT8

Having first chatted to RTE, the brothers were then waved over to the BBC microphone. Gary’s opening line, before the questions began, summed up a carefree, light-hearted attitude that has won himself and his brother so many fans. Grinning widely, he remarked:
“We’ll have to be careful with what we say to these lads.”
Gary and Paul went on to pay tribute to everyone that had helped them achieve their goal and were not shy in praising the victorious French pair Pierre Houin and Jeremie Azou.
The O’Donovans’ interview with the Beeb went down a treat.
