After their meek World Cup exit this morning, the blows just keep coming
As you’ll surely have seen, England bowed out of the 2015 Cricket World Cup this morning after defeat to Bangladesh. Set a target of 276, they fell 15 runs short, bowled out before the end of their 50 overs.
After defeat to Autralia and New Zealand, as well as Sri Lanka, England’s hopes of making the quarter-finals, the minimum expected before the tournament, were over.
It has led to much comment on social media, from ex-pros to furious fans to many here in Ireland declaring ourselves the best team in Europe now.
However, this is our favourite tweet, courtesy of the Japanese Cricket Association, who are the 37th ranked team in the world.
Dear @ECB_cricket, this might not be a great time, but as there’s room in your schedule, fancy a game in Japan on the way home? #challenge
