It’s great to see an Irishman doing well.
And “doing well” is a bit of an understatement for Eoin Morgan, who was announced today as Alastair Cook’s successor as England’s One Day International captain.
The England selectors gave Cook the boot after a string of poor performances from the Essex opener and, according to The Daily Telegraph, Morgan will take his place.
Great news that @Eoin16 is new England 1-day captain. Top player, leader and bloke. Hope I get to play for him.

The decision was made at a meeting at Trent Bridge earlier today to sack Cook, who held the post since 2011, but who has endured a terrible run of form in recent months which came to a head this week in a 5-2 series loss to Sri Lanka.
Morgan has played ODI cricket for Ireland between 2006 and 2007 before getting the call from the ECB and this will undoubtedly be the highlight of the Dubliner’s career.
