An Irish athlete was agonisingly close to bagging a European Games medal

So close.

Heading into the European Games in Baku, gymnast Kieran Behan was one of Ireland’s biggest medal hopes and he came very close to delivering in the floor final earlier.

Behan was the first competitor up in the event, and posted a strong score of 14.866.

Unfortunately, he then had to watch from the side as he slid down the rankings and eventually finished fourth. It was heartbreaking for Behan, but people were still very proud of his effort.
