Mario Tejeda's family accepted the prize

A sad story from Spain

Mario Tejeda was a 33-year-old basketball nut from Salamanca. A huge Real Madrid fan, he also played the Spanish league’s fantasy basketball game, alongside 200,000 others, but sadly Mario died in October.

However, the team that he picked before he passed away came top of Gameweek 10 in this week’s standing and the ACB, the Spanish Basketball League, wrote a fine tribute to Mario on their site today.

The post refers to how big a fan he was and how he had been an active member of the site’s forum for over a decade.

They also say that the prize for the weekly winner, a signed ball by your favourite player, would be presented to his family, who chose the Real Madrid captain Felipe Reyes.

You can only imagine the emotions his family must have gone through when they were notified and you can only wonder how much Mario would have loved the prize.
