A group of French sports stars were tragically killed last night when the two helicopters they were travelling in collided in Argentina.
The athletes were participating in a reality TV show and were among 10 people killed in the mid-air collision.
Olympic gold medalist swimmer Camille Muffat, Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine and champion sailor Florence Arthaud were among those killed as the filming of the survival series “Dropped” ended in disaster/
The other victims have been identified as Laurent Sbasnik, Lucie Mei-Dalby, Volodia Guinard, Brice Guilbert and Edouard Gilles, as well as Argentine pilots Juan Carlos Castillo and Roberto Abate.
He said the weather conditions were good and the cause of the crash was unknown.
Arthaud, 57, was considered one of the best sailors in the world, Muffat, 25, was an elite swimmer who brought home three medals from the London 2012 Olympics, and Vastine, 28, won a bronze medal at the Beijing games in 2008 in the light welterweight division.
The other stars who were participating in the show were swimmer Alain Bernard, cyclist Jeannie Longo, former Arsenal forward  Sylvain Wiltord, snowboarder Anne-Flore Marxer and figure skater Philippe Candeloro.
None of them were among the victims.
Wiltord expressed his grief on Twitter after the tragedy saying:
I’m sad for my friends, I tremble, I am horrified, I have no words, I don’t want to say anything
