What are they feeding them in Gurranabraher?
James Hannigan sees a full court in front of him and he sees possibilities. He sees over 60 feet of distance between him and the hoop and he sees nothing but net.
Neptune Basketball Club went on a rampage during the mid-term, beating four different teams to get their hands on silverware and book a place in the Under-18 Men’s Hula Hoops National Cup quarter-final.
Twice, they hit a century of scores en route to glory.
- Neptune 100 Tolka Rovers 48
- Neptune 96 Drogheda Bullets 30
- Neptune 87 Moycullen 61
- Neptune 100 Templeogue 85
It was their first outing in their group clash against Tolka Rovers that set the tone though to say that this Cork outfit were the real deal.
On three different occasions, two under-18 players (under-18, that can’t be stressed enough) slam dunked – and not in your normal Irish manner where they throw the ball up a little and hang on the rim for effect. No, these lads came hammering down on top of the hoop and slammed the ball home.
Liam Chandler (twice) and Cian Heaphy both dunked for Neptune before, right on the buzzer, Gaelcholaiste Mhuire AG man James Hannigan hit a successful full court shot that was simply jaw-dropping.
And we thought this buzzer-beater from a Louisville high school game last year could never be topped.
James Hannigan wouldn’t get out of bed for a half court shot like that.
