Classy stuff from CP3
As a player, LA Clippers point guard Chris Paul is one of the classiest in the business, with a range of pasing and control that means he is regularly listed as one of the top five in his position in the NBA.
And it seems he is also a class act off the court. On Wednesday night, the Clippers played the Detroit Pistons in Michigan and Paul made sure that a 13-year-old called Jack Gallagher got some very special attention.
Gallagher’s 49-year-old mother Lisa Elaine Gallagher had recently died of an aggressive form of cancer and the teenager had posted a video tribute to his mother that included a scene where he left one of Paul’s brand of shoes that his mother had bought for him on her grave, as both were big fans of the player.
Paul saw the video and got his people to seek out the Gallaghers and made arrangements for Jack and some of his family to be at the Pistons game.
Paul met Jack before the game, and gave him a few pairs of runners before then playing with his Lisa Elaine’s initials on his shoes. Paul had a superb game, going 9-12 from the floor and racking up 23 points and seven assists as the Clippers won 104-98.
The video shows how the night unfolded, how much it clearly meant to Jack and the entire episode obviously touched Paul too.
