After Marshawn Lynch refused to say anything to reporters all week, it seems Conan O’Brien has found the easiest way to make the big man talk.
Play video games and eat skittles.
The chat show host managed to get Lynch and New England Patriots tight-end Rob Gronkowski together in a Phoenix hotel room to play the soon-to-be-released Mortal Kombat X, a remake of the legendary game every child had in the mid 90s, that’s as brutally violent a game as I’ve ever seen.
Marshawn opens up to Conan, revealing his secret strategy for shoot-em-up games (mashing the buttons as fast as he can), and giving an official masterclass in his famous crotch-grabbing touchdown celebration, that landed him another fine after the NFC Championship game.
The gruesome, gruesome, gruesome game does actually manage to repulse the pair, and their reactions to some of the more gory elements of the gameplay are hysterical.
And it wouldn’t be a video of Rob Gronkowski without some childish, teenage boy humour.
It may be about a good 11 minutes in length, but it’s probably better than any Superbowl preview you’ll see this week.
We’re praying to the high heavens that this pair get their own TV show when they retire.
