Seattle Seahawks star Richard Sherman used today’s press conference to take the complete piss out of the NFL’s policies on media interviews, sponsorship and player safety.
The outspoken Sherman was joined by a cardboard cutout of team-mate Doug Baldwin (voiced by Doug Baldwin) and the pair fired back at the league following its decision to fine Seattle running back Marshawn Lynch for his failure to offer anything more than monosyllabic responses to the media.
They also mocked the league’s ‘hypocritical’ policies on sponsorship and derided the fact that a sport which is very publicly emphasising player safety expects the Seahawks to play their second game in five days this Thursday in San Francisco.
Sherman and Baldwin are right on the money with most of this, but their comedic stylings probably won’t be looked upon favourably in the fine-happy league office.
