Barack Obama says that the NFL’s handling of the Ray Rice domestic violence case showed that they were “behind the curve”.
The President of the United States appeared today on ESPN Radio on Colin Cowherd’s The Herd show where he admitted that he spends most of his time in the morning watching sports on the American TV channel.
Obama went on to discuss how athletes have responsibilities as citizens as well as entertainers whilst stating that, if he were a 21 or 22-year-old on a multi-million contract, he would’ve made more mistakes than he made.
He did, however, criticize the NFL’s dealing with the Ray Rice case. The former Baltimore Ravens running back was indicted earlier in the year for third-degree aggravated assault but the president stated that “you don’t want to be winging it when something like this takes place” with regards to the organisation’s handling of the case.
