Archie Bradley took one for the team last night.
The Arizona Diamondbacks’ pitcher felt the full force of a line drive into the side of his face, flooring him and leaving the entire stadium eerily silent, with real fears about his welfare.
However after a nervous few minutes while he was being treated, there was great relief when he got to his feet and walked off the field unaided.
And he’s since taken to Twitter to thank all the well wishers following the incident, revealing the true extent of the damage that a baseball to the head can do.
His cheek is so swollen, it actually looks like the baseball went through his cheek, and is now lodged in his face.
Yikes.
Pretty ugly huh? In all Seriousness tho thanks for the text, tweets and prayers! Could have been a lot worse! #lucky pic.twitter.com/NasQBYWqkz
