Both sides attacked at will for a tremendous 45 minutes with a 2-2 scoreline shared at half-time.
Liverpool started stronger, dominating in possession and were rewarded in the 10th minute when Roberto Firmino beat Petr Cech before the equaliser came four minutes later via Aaron Ramsey.
The goal of the game came when Firmino got his second with a perfectly-placed long range strike but parity was restored on the 25 minute mark via the deft touch of Olivier Giroud.
