Just last month Blackpool had announced that the Spaniard's contract had been extended for another year but that a clause existed whereby Orlandi could leave for free if Blackpool were relegated and he had played 2,070 minutes - or 23 full games.
The club thought they were clever out when they didn't play Orlandi for the final two league games in an attempt to keep his playing time under that target but failed to account for the injury time in which he has played, which could take him over the mark.
Foolish really but expect a lengthy legal battle as the club attempts to keep hold of their players so that they can at least register a squad for the start of next season and Orlandi tries to run for his life from the sinking ship that is Blackpool Football Club.
