It looks like Emmanuel Adebayor has played his final game in a Tottenham Hotspur shirt.
It all started so well for the Togo international. The former Arsenal and Manchester City striker spent a successful 2011-12 season on loan at Spurs, scoring 17 goals before signing for them on a permanent deal for £5m.
However, since the deal was made permanent, he has only managed 18 league goals in 47 league appearances and made just 17 appearances last season.
His lacklustre form (2 league goals in 13 appearances last season) left him unwanted at White Harte Lane, causing the club to try to terminate his contract. However, Adebayor wanted a £5m pay-off to leave which, according to reports, was the value of the final year of his contract.
Spurs had been willing to pay a portion of that amount, but Adebayor is understood to have declined the offer.
After refusing to join Aston Villa because the Messiah never gave him a sign to do so (
no really) and missing out on a loan move to West Ham due to his wage demands, he is now stuck at White Harte Lane. However, he has been left out of both the club's
Premier League and Europa League squads for the coming season.
So that appears to be the end of that.
