Everton have lined up a ridiculously ambitious replacement for Tim Howard

The first signing of the post-Martinez era at Everton could be a whopper.

New Toffees owner Farhad Moshiri is keen on making a massive statement in the transfer window by throwing money at Manchester City in an attempt to prise Joe Hart from their grasp. The mega-rich Iranian businessman is hopeful that a €52m bid, coupled with Pep Guardiola's reported scepticism about Hart's abilities with the ball at his feet, will be enough to seal the deal. Only the bottom five in the Premier League conceded more goals than Everton last season and the leakiness at the back will be a priority under the new manager, whoever that may be. Tim Howard has played his last game at Goodison Park, with his move to Colorado Rapids set to go through this summer. Joel Robles is not thought to be reliable enough to be considered first-team goalkeeper and it's believed that Moshiri is willing to offer up a weekly wage of €260,000 to the England number one.
