And ahead of Rodgers' first season in Scotland, he's received a massive boost with the news that Roberts has been made available to play for him in the qualifying stages of the Champions League.
Roberts was expected to be required in Germany to prepare for England's Under-19s European Championship which would have clashed with Celtic's Champions League qualifiers.
But, to Rodgers' relief, the English FA have allowed the 19-year-old to feature for his club in late July.
The Scottish Daily Record reports that the FA believe the benefit that Roberts would get from playing competitively at Champions League level is worth leaving him out of the international squad.
