It's very likely that Bastian Schweinsteiger has pulled on a Manchester United jersey for the last time.
Despite refusing to take on board Jose Mourinho's explicit claims that he is not a part of his plans, Schweinsteiger elected to stay at Old Trafford this summer in the hope of changing the Portuguese's notoriously unchangeable mind.

The German legend's inclusion in Mourinho's Premier League squad may have hinted that some hope existed but his place in the 25-man list is believed to be strictly down to Premier League rules that state all players above the age of 21 must be included in the squad if there are places available.
And Mourinho's freeze-out of the 32-year-old became abundantly clear when, on Friday evening, it emerged that he had decided to leave the veteran midfielder out of his Europa League squad.
Manchester Evening News report that Schweinsteiger will play no part in United's upcoming European ties against Feyenoord, Fenerbahce and Zorya Luhansk after being further ostracised by his manager.
Mourinho instead offered his final squad places to teenage defenders Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Axel Tuanzebe which shows how little he thinks of Schweinsteiger, who remains a fan favourite due to the maturity he is showing while being publicly snubbed.
The Red Devils get their Europa League campaign started with an away clash with Feyenoord on September 15.... We don't know what Schweini is up to that night.
