Pirlo, who we can't express enough admiration for, received the votes from players, coaches and journalists ahead of last night's event.
The 35-year-old was named in the team of the year alongside teammats Gianluigi Buffon, Kwadwo Asamoah, Andrea Barzagli, Paul Pogba, Arturo Vidal and Carlos Tevez with Old Lady manager Antonio Conte named the year's best coach.
"It's always a pleasure to win this award, it means I manage to stay at top level year after year," our Italian hero said at the ceremony.
The list of awards in full is:
Serie A team: Gianluigi Buffon (Juventus); Matteo Darmian (Torino FC), Andrea Barzagli (Juventus), Mehdi Benatia (AS Roma, now FC Bayern München), Kwadwo Asamoah (Juventus); Andrea Pirlo (Juventus), Paul Pogba (Juventus), Arturo Vidal (Juventus); Ciro Immobile (Torino FC, now Borussia Dortmund), Gonzalo Higuaín (SSC Napoli), Carlos Tévez (Juventus).
Best coach: Antonio Conte (Juventus)
Best young player in Serie B: Daniele Rugani (Empoli FC)
Best women's player: Melania Gabbiadini (ASD CF Bardolino Verona)
Best referee: Nicola Rizzoli
