A truly bizarre story about Celtic, Rangers, green Skittles and a rivalry that runs deep

Kris Boyd knows what he likes and he doesn't like Celtic.

The Scottish striker scored 104 goals in 174 games for Rangers over two spells at the club. Now at Kilmarnock, via Turkey and the MLS, Boyd may be able to catch some of the Old Firm before he must lace up for his own Scottish Premiership game. He made his debut against Celtic, in the 2000/01 season, at the age of 16 and scored his 100th league goal against the same club in 2007. As combative, ball-holding forward, Boyd did his best to rile up Celtic and their fans every time they met. Ahead of this Saturday's clash between Celtic and Rangers, US midfielder DeMarcus Beasley shared his Old Firm memories with KICK. Of all the games, goals, flashpoints and cautions, one incident stands out for the American. Green Skittles were involved. He is as bemused now as he was then. Beasley says:

"It was the day of the game. We're in the locker room and Kris Boyd... They had Skittles on the table and he actually picked out every single green one and threw it in the trash. "This was my first Old Firm experience... I had never seen this before [but] this was when I knew I was in a Celtic-Rangers rivalry."

  An amusing anecdote, no doubt. There was no mention from Beasley of his BMW 6-series being blown up by a petrol bomb in Glasgow, in 2010, during a suspected sectarian attack. At the time, Beasley tweeted, "Someone blew up my car. Thanks again for ALL the messages and kind words.. But yea I'm doin ok and in the market for a new car! Lol... Gotta try to find some humor."
