Want a Hallowe’en fright?
It is 12 months to the day since the All Blacks spooked the planet with their clinical and systematic response to Australia’s second half fightback as they won their second World Cup on the spin.
Want to be properly frightened? Despite losing icons like Ma’a Nonu, Dan Carter, Conrad Smith, Kevin Mealamu, Tony Woodcock and, of course, Richie McCaw, the All Blacks have subsequently gone on to win every game in 2016 to stretch their world record unbeaten streak to 18 games.
Some even believe the Beauden Barrett inspired team are better than the side that won the World Cup.
Joe Schmidt’s Ireland squad fly to Chicago on Monday ahead of Saturday’s meeting with the all dominant All Blacks.
To celebrate the one-year anniversary of New Zealand’s triumph, World Rugby released a video of their best moments from that Twickenham final, in slow motion.
Not sure we would recommend this video as in-flight entertainment for captain Rory Best and his team-mates as they wing their way to a meeting with the greatest rugby team in history.
