It isn’t just Robbie Henshaw that has the skills
In case you had forgotten in the glory of Ireland’s win over England, but the Irish provinces are still ploughing away in their Pro 12 campaigns. Players not involved with the international set ups are grunting their way through early spring fixtures before their esteemed colleagues rejoin them later this month.
It really stretches the provinces to be without their international contingent but it can also provide a golden opportunity for some players to get on the radar of Joe Schmidt and co. That’s certainly the case for Keith Earls who after two injury plagued years is finally coming back to his best and this piece of fantastic footwork in Saturday’s win over Glasgow in Cork shows why.
The Limerick native made a great run along the touchline which was spotted by Ian Keatley who kick-passed a wonderful almost inch-perfect ball.
It looked like Earls was about to sail through for an easy try when the ball popped up awkwardly. However without even breaking stride Earls used a cushioned touch to control the ball and get over the whitewash.
It gets better with every viewing and even though we’ve only two games left in the Six Nations,Earls could be a very valuable addition if there was to be any late injury’s from the weekend’s exertions.
