VIDEO: Dublin schoolboy’s conversion attempt wins the crossbar challenge forever

Four times off the metalwork

Kevin McGillicuddy

Take a bow.

Kicking conversions is not easy. If it was then we would have seen John Hayes belt balls over just as easy as Ronan O’Gara did.

Striking the ball right in between two big metal posts is not easy, but sometimes players get lucky via a handy defection off a post.

Maybe even you could have two deflections if you were happening to wear some four-leafed clover down your socks and a rabbit’s foot around your neck.

But the odds of hitting the posts four times, and the ball still somehow going over is not something we think we’ve ever seen.

Until today when Ben Doggett of St Conleth’s College scored this outrageous effort in the 40-0 win over Tullow this afternoon at Wanderers.

You honestly could not believe unless you had the evidence that the ball hits the upright three times, and then the crossbar before landing over the try line.

Ah here. Joe Schmidt, give this lad a call now.

Crossbar challenge!
