ROG in the RDS has a nice ring to it
Ronan O’Gara is facing into yet another season at Racing Metro, but for the first time since his move to France, he won’t have his buddy Johnny Sexton to chat to about Taytos and Barry’s tea,
The Ireland outhalf is now back in the loving bosom of Leinster, and speaking on Off the Ball tonight in Cork, O’Gara revealed he’d love to work with the Dubliner once again.
The former Munster legend has long been linked with a move back home to work under former-teammate Anthony Foley, but tonight he admitted that he would jump at the chance to work with Leinster’s impressive backline
“Do I take [the Leinster backs job]? I haven’t been offered it.”
“Course I would [work for Leinster]. I see things very differently now. Obviously Munster is my home, where I’d like to be head coach someday.”
“But there will be big steps before you take that job, so for me there’s an incredibly talented back-line in Leinster. Anyone who is serious about rugby would work with that back-line.”
Leo Cullen, of course, would have worked for several years with O’Gara at a senior level and Ireland’s record points scorer would be a serious addition to any coaching staff if he was to return to Ireland.
Even though he’s admitted that he would love to coach Munster too perhaps a few years with Leinster would be an ideal education before taking over at Thomond Park.
