This is absolutely classic.
We have to admit that we shouted a lot of expletives at our telly boxes on Sunday afternoon as Ireland scraped past Italy in the World Cup to set up a massive game with France next weekend.
We could all see that we were far from our best and the worry was etched across the faces of pretty much every single Irish fan inside the Olympic Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
But a certain group of Irish fans should not have been concerned as they appeared to have their own special ‘guardian angel’ to look over them during the course of the 80 minutes in London.
Photographer Nicky Hayes took this wonderful snap at just the perfect moment with Paul O’Connell, who had a monster of a game, looking on proudly over a section of the crowd
