Munster unleash World Cup star for visit of Connacht

Teams are in

Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino will make his bow for Munster’s first XV in Thomond Park tomorrow.

The Argentine full-back starts on the wing, as one of six changes to the side Anthony Foley sent out for their Champions Cup victory over Treviso a fortnight ago.

Two-time Heineken Cup-winning scrum-half Tomás O’Leary replaces the injured Conor Murray, while James Cronin and Niall Scannell slot into the front row.

Robin Copeland returns at 8, with captain CJ Stander moving to the blindside to accommodate the Wexford man.

Connacht give a first PRO12 start to United States international AJ MacGinty at fly-half, with Pat Lam making nine changes from the side that beat Brive the last time out.

The table-toppers see captain John Muldoon return in the back-row to lead a side that owes an awful lot to their Galway rugby education, as Lam explains.

“The amount of youth coming through in this side is exciting with 13 of our match day squad graduates or current members of the Connacht Academy.

“We are under no illusion as to the task at hand tomorrow. Axel has done a great job moulding and building a tough and resilient Munster side over the last two years. Our team work and work ethic on and off the ball will need to be at its best to give us a chance to get the four points on offer.”

Kick-off at Thomond Park is 5.15pm tomorrow. Should be a cracker as Connacht go looking for their first competitive win of the professional era in Limerick.
