Munster invite Bulls centre to training and confirm contract extensions

Jack O'Toole

Munster have invited Bulls centre Dries Swanepoel to train with the team ahead of the province’s trip to face the Toyota Cheetahs on Friday.

With centres Chris Farrell and Jaco Taute both sidelined through injury and winger Keith Earls out with a knee injury, Munster have invited Swanepoel to train with the team in Cape Town as they look to sign the 25-year-old to a short-term loan deal, subject to being granted a valid work permit.

The club also announced that hooker Mike Sherry and prop Jeremy Loughman have both agreed to contract extensions.

Sherry has been signed to a one-year deal that will will keep him at the province until at least June 2019, while Loughman has had his development contract extended until the end of the current season having joined the province on a three-month deal in December 2017.

Elsewhere Garryowen captain Neil Cronin has signed a one-year contract after impressing with the Limerick club in the AIL.

Munster won their first game on their tour of South Africa with a convincing 39-22 win over the Southern Kings and will return to Limerick next week to prepare for their Champions Cup semi-final with Racing the weekend after next.
