Mesut Ozil basically confirms that Arsenal players pay far too much attention to the media

Someone's enjoying re-reading Saturday's newspapers

“It’s a landslide for Chelsea.”

The Evening Standard’s contributors were unanimous when it came to predicting how the FA Cup final would play out.

The pundits were in agreement with the bookmakers as they all predicted that Chelsea would double up on their Premier League glory with a routine victory at Wembley on Saturday evening.

But, as we’re sure you’re aware, the #MagicOfTheCup reared its wondrous head this weekend and Arsenal pulled off a stunning performance as they outplayed the Premier League champions en route to a 2-1 victory.

Master tactician Antonio Conte was outsmarted by Arsene Wenger as he became the competition’s most successful manager of all time.

And possibly more enjoyable for the Gunners players than lifting the Cup was the returning to the pre-match predictions which proved false.

Midfielder Mesut Ozil will never have typed quotation marks with the satisfaction that he had on Sunday as he enjoyed a laugh at the expense of James Olley, Danny Murphy, Simon Johnson, Tom Collomosse, Giuseppe Muro and Tony Evans.

Having been criticised for his apparent lack of dedication to the Arsenal cause at various stages throughout the season, Ozil will have relished the chance to stick it to his critics.
