Do Leinster know something we don’t.
Leinster rugby are not happy with the fact that Cian Healy is set to miss tomorrow’s European Champions Cup clash with Toulon at the Aviva.
The Ireland international was hit with a two week ban on Thursday, after he was cited for a for a knee to the head of Toulon’s Guilhem Guirado, which meant that he would miss the home tie against the reigning champions this weekend, and the December 27 clash with Munster at Thomond Park.
Leinster confirmed last night they were going to appeal the ban as they felt it was “a failure to follow due process and is unfair to Cian Healy.”
And today, in an act of defiance to the EPCR, they have named the prop in the match day squad for the clash at the Aviva, despite Healy not being technically free to play.
There is also another unusual face on the bench as 20 year old Nick McCarthy could make his debut on Saturday as the replacement scrumhalf.
UPDATE:
It seems that the inclusion on Healy was all a big mistake, and not a carefully planned dig at the citing body
CORRECTION: @Benty425 will be on the Leinster bench for tomorrow's game v Toulon in place of @ProperChurch. #LEINvTOU
