And we’re thawing in our attitude to the Englishman
Everybody has got that afterglow of a victory over England coursing through their veins this morning and the BBC team of the week should brighten up your Monday even further.
We’ll have our own team of the week later so you can compare and contrast our selections to those of the Beeb, but for the moment you can relax and enjoy that not a single English player has made the cut. Not one.
Jeremy Guscott was so impressed by Joe Schmidt’s side at the Aviva that he’s gone and forgotten his bias for once. He thinks the English players were so bad yesterday that they were on a par with Scotland who also fail to make the grade after their shock loss to Italy.
Our list of lucky five are only just bettered by Wales, whose win over France in Paris earns them six spots in the best of the weekend.
We could probably find a place for Simon Zebo in the side but we’re happy enough with all the obvious candidates such as match winner Robbie Henshaw, the half-back pairing of Conor Murray and Johnny Sexton as well as Mike Ross and Paul O’Connell up front.
France get one selection as Brice Dulin gets the full-back position but the rest of the team is made up of Italians and Wales players, who both secured impressive wins over the weekend.
The full reasons for Guscott selecting a third of his side from Ireland is here
