This is either really great news or…
In 2014 we had the long goodbye as Brian O’Driscoll called time on his career as one of the greatest rugby players of all time, and it appeared that another legend was to follow him into retirement this season. Â George Hook announced last year that this season would be his last as one of the faces of RTE’s rugby coverage, while he was due to quit his radio work later on in October.
But it seems that this evening the cranky face of Irish rugby for the last two decades has had a change of heart and will continue broadcasting until late 2016. The 73-year old he revealed on his Newstalk radio show ‘The Right Hook’ tonight that his wife couldn’t be putting up with him at home and so is forcing to remain on in the workforce for another 18 months at least.
Maybe Ronan O’Gara will get his wish to see that infamous knee on telly yet
I have cancelled my retirement – Ingrid has told me she is not prepared to have me knocking around the house all day so I will work forever.
