Baz & Andrew’s House of Rugby – Coronavirus fixture flux

Patrick McCarry

The 2020 Guinness Six Nations could yet be decided a couple of months before we all start gearing up for the 2021 edition.

Ireland’s trio of home Six Nations ties against Italy (men’s, women’s and Under 20s) were all postponed last week but the future of the championships remains in doubt as governments across the globe attempt to tackle the Coronavirus outbreak, and spread.

Test rugby’s most storied competition has not been left with incomplete fixtures since 1972 and hopes are high that all the partaking nations can get in their allocated games before the 2019/20 season is over.

On the latest episode of Baz & Andrew’s House of Rugby, Barry Murphy and Andrew Trimble were joined by Jerry Flannery to discuss the current start of fixtures flux, but they also had plenty of weekend Guinness PRO14 action to look back on.

The gang discussed the recent stand-out PRO14 performances of Ryan Baird and Craig Casey while Andy Farrell’s 35-man Ireland squad for the (potential) Guinness Six Nations clash with France was a hot topic.

Also covered on the show was:

  • Blowing a big chance to impress Roy Keane
  • Rugby’s best ever fights
  • Eimear Considine talks about the Tackle Your Feelings campaign
  • Marcell Coetzee linked with a return to South Africa
