It was all in the training attire.
England are no strangers to finding the last piece of the jigsaw. Every year. In every sport.
The country stumbles across a new regime, a new philosophy or just a new training demand and that’s it, they’ve found it. They’ve found what they were missing.
This time, they really have found it.
Eddie Jones hasn’t said that he thinks his newest rule really means anything or that it will bear any kind of fruit but it has gotten a lot of people excited. Why wouldn’t it?
Yes, for their final training session at their home base before the weekend’s clash with Scotland, the starting XV for England wore their full match kit.
“The latest detail of the Jones’s revolution…” (The Telegraph)
“Revolutionary thinking…” (The Times)
“*****” (SportsJOE.ie)
It was a simple explanation really, he just wanted the players to be used to what they’re going to look like in Murrayfield as a team.
“Everything in rugby is about familiarisation so I like the main training session before we kit up to be as close as possible,” Jones explained.
Perfectly understandable. But a win on Saturday and this full kit idea will be credited with saving the sport in England.
