Mils Muliaina is due in court on August 7 after being charged with sexual assault.
The former Connacht full back and All Blacks star has been charged by South Wales Police for an incident that saw him arrested after the Irish side’s game with Gloucester in April.
But Muliaina, 34, was alleged to have committed the assault in Cardiff in March and will appear before the Welsh city’s Magistrates Court next month.
In a statement to the NZ Herald, South Wales Police confirmed the player’s charge.
“Mils Muliaina has been charged with sexual assault on a female aged 16 or over. He is scheduled to appear at Cardiff Magistrates Court on the 7th August,” the statement said.
The 100-cap New Zealand player joined Connacht for the start of the 2014/15 season but had announced that he would be leaving the province after one campaign to join Italian side, Zebre.
