England captain Dylan Hartley lifted the Six Nations trophy despite suffering a sickening knock out in the tournament decider against France.
The Northampton Saints star took a heavy knee to the top of his skull in the 68th minute as he went in for a tackle against giant French prop Uini Antonio.He was knocked clean out by the blow, and had to be stretchered off by medics are the game rested on a knife edge with England leading 25-21.
Enland fans feared the worst for Hartley, who was given a standing ovation from 80,000 fans as he left the field.But his team-mates were not to be denied and went on to win the game by 10 points, and just 20 minutes after the horrific knock out Hartley re-emerged to celebrate England’s first grand slam win in 13 years.
