We’ve been here before.
During the opening game of the Rugby World Cup, ITV commentator Nick Mullins came in for criticism following a comment about Fiji.
“In the smaller villages, they will all be gathering around the one TV, the one satellite dish, hoping the generator doesn’t let them down,” Mullins said.
This sparked something of a mini-outrage amongst the viewing public, many of whom considered the ITV commentator’s comments to be derogatory.
It turned out that Mullins was making reference to a pre-match quote from Fiji coach John McKee, but had failed to contextualise his comments during commentary.
There’s no such excuse for this clanger though.During Ireland’s victory over France at the Millennium Stadium, ITV’s commentator referred to Devin Toner as the “Dublin tower block”.
However, Toner is from Co. Meath.
ITV commentator described Devin Toner as "the Dublin tower block". Not sure how that'll sit with the Meathman.

Toner was educated in Dublin, at Castleknock College and University College Dublin, but we’re not sure if that qualifies him to be referred to as the “Dublin tower block.”
Maybe the “Meath mountain” would’ve been a more suitable WWE-style nickname?
