Canadian outhalf with possibly the worst penalty attempt of the millennium

It went up, and that was about it

Kevin McGillicuddy

As it turned out, this was a crucial miss.

Nathan Hirayama had been playing well for Canada in their clash with Italy, but he will not want to see this horrendous penalty attempt again.

Canada lost 23-18 to Italy after pushing the Europeans to the very brink, at Elland Road this.

The outhalf tried to make the posts with this sideline effort but well, he was wide, and extremely short of the posts.

PEN ATTEMPT

At the break Italy led an entertaining game 13-10.

Canada scored their second crackerjack try of the match, to once again rock Italy, but Jacques Brunel’s men fought back.

A late penalty padded out the winning margin but Hirayama won’t want any reminders about his hashed three-pointer.
