Baz & Andrew’s House of Rugby – Triple Crown showdown

Patrick McCarry

“I would imagine there’ll be even more confidence, albeit going away to Twickenham.”

From the depths after our World Cup exit to New Zealand to renewed hope that this Irish team can mix it with the best again. Andy Farrell is slowly making his changes, and mark, with this Ireland team and, after only two games, a Triple Crown has come into view.

Opening wins over Scotland and Wales have Ireland joint top of the Guinness Six Nations table with France. Ireland just about got over the line against the Scots but looked a lot better in their 24-14 victory over the 2019 Grand Slam champions.

On the latest episode of Baz & Andrew’s House of Rugby, Barry Murphy and Andrew Trimble were joined by Jerry Flannery to look back on the weekend’s action and a trio of Irish wins.

The gang discussed the upcoming Triple Crown decider against England, on February 23, and what players are hitting form. Among the topics also covered are:

  • Growing Irish confidence and a back three unleashed
  • Big praise for Rob Herring, Jordan Larmour and Andrew Conway
  • Keith Earls’ best role in the squad
  • ‘Bottle Gate’ at Murrayfield
  • France reverting back to bad habits before Baptiste Serin’s wonder-try
  • Impressive wins for Ireland’s women and U20s
