Rory McIlroy has won the 2014 Sports Person of the Year for 2014 at the RTE Sports awards
The world number one had a phenomenal year which included a USPGA title and a Ryder Cup. He beat off stiff competition from five time amateur boxing champion Katie Taylor, Everton defender Seamus Coleman and paralympian Jason Smyth to claim the coveted prize.
