Rocky IV, what a bloody film.
Ronda Rousey seemingly feels the same as she has looked to the 1985 boxing movie for inspiration ahead of next month’s title fight with Bethe Correia.
Rousey is looking to defend her women’s bantamweight title for the fifth time when she travels to Brazil to fight Natal’s Correia on enemy territory.
The UFC 190 main event became personal when, last month, Correia appeared to take the trash-talk too far by alluding to the suicide of Rousey’s father when she was a child.
While the undefeated Brazilian has since apologised for the remark, Rousey is looking to embarrass Correia in devastating style next month, just like Rocky Balboa did to Ivan Drago in Russia (30-year-old spoiler alert).
“It’s gotten really personal with me and this girl much like it did with Rocky, Apollo and Drago and all that. So I’m going to beat her in her home country… I just want to beat her in the most devastatingly embarrassing way possible so want to do it in front of her own people.”
