Just about everybody in Ireland knows Conor McGregor’s name at this stage.
The Notorious has come a long way, in the mixed martial arts world, in a short time. In the early hours of Sunday morning [Irish time], the Irish featherweight could claim a UFC title in just his fifth fight with the promotion.
To preview that possible outcome, pay homage to the 26-year-old, and promote the fight, BT Sport has produced a documentary entitled ‘The McGregor Effect’. It airs tonight, at 9:15pm.
Leading MMA writer Gareth Davies visits Ireland to track McGregor’s rise and speak to a cross-section of society about the fighter’s growing presence on our sporting landscape.
Davies poses the question: ‘What is it about the kid from Crumlin who has become the self-styled ‘King of Ireland’, flash, brash, intense and entertaining, with an eye for style, all at the same time?’

McGregor, meanwhile, is now the recipient of a brand new website dedicated to his exploits.
Launched last night, conormcgregor.com is a slick-looking operation and one that should bulk up its content in the coming days, weeks and months.
For now, it includes a bio, an extensive picture gallery and videos that include ‘The Notorious’, an RTE doc, and several Embedded and other official UFC offerings.
