She was already the pride of Albuquerque, but Holly Holm is going to return to her hometown to a heroine’s welcome with that coveted gold strap around her waist.
In case you’ve woken up late, Holly Holm, as one journalist put it, achieved the impossible by usurping Ronda Rousey UFC women’s bantamweight throne at UFC 189.
Holm dominated her opponent over the course of the fight and finished her with a magnificent head kick that rendered Rousey unconscious.
Her hometown of Albuquerque were watching the former boxing champion as she completed a huge upset victory on the other side of the world, and boy were they delighted to see their girl win.

The celebrations became so mental that they were actually forced to stop serving alcohol to patrons in the town.
