WATCH: Fighters’ different weight-cut techniques took centre stage in final UFC 199 Embedded

CSAC regulation change proving popular

The first UFC event in California under the state athletic commission’s new weight cutting regulations seems to be going swimmingly.

The system earned plenty of praise from the fighters involved, who were given the chance to weigh in during a four hour window on the Friday morning rather than wait until the evening as has become commonplace in other states.

The new CSAC regulations, established to combat severe dehydration, allowed fighters to get the weigh-in done earlier and give them significantly more time to rehydrate before taking to the Octagon.

Fighters could, in all probability, have gotten an extra two meals into their systems on Friday and the new regulations were very popular judging by the final episode of the UFC 199 Embedded series.

The last episode, made public on fight day, shows Luke Rockhold, Michael Bisping, Dominick Cruz and Urijah Faber breathe sighs of relief as they all make weight in the morning before heading straight to their favourite Inglewood eatery to indulge themselves.

Expect plenty more fighters to campaign for a spot on the UFC’s next trip to the Golden State.
