One of the stand-out pronouncements of the Nevada State Athletics Commission’s wrist-slapping of Conor McGregor was that The Notorious should undergo some media training.
Pat Lundvall and her commission colleagues all seemed set on packing McGregor off to a media finishing school, where he could blunt his brash ways and say niceties that meant everything and nothing at the same time.
In the end, they settled for fining the UFC featherweight champion $150,000 and ordering him to do 50 hours of community service. One positive from the whole fiasco – stemming back to flinging wattle bottles and cans of energy drink back and forth with Nate Diaz’ entourage, in August – is that McGregor is set to front an anti-bullying campaign in the United States.
As for the media training? He should be fine there. Less aqua assaults, more verbal tirades.
UFC president Dana White was a guest on FOX Sports Live last night and he thoroughly enjoyed a skit on how McGregor would benefit from attending the Media Manners Academy.
After laughing along in several parts, White declared, “”If anybody thinks Conor McGregor needs media training, you’re crazy.”

McGregor’s next fight is at UFC 205 on November 12. The media appearances and press conferences will ramp up in the coming weeks.
Do not expect to find McGregor a changed, demure man overnight.
