When Carlos Condit landed his stunning step-in lead elbows on the nose of Thiago Alves on Saturday night, there was a definite sense of “he’s done this before.”
The Natural Born Killer used his elbows with the proficiency of a jab and saw the fight waved off at the end of the second round during the main event of UFC Goiania.
The strikes absolutely shattered Thiago Alves’ nose, leaving the Brazilian’s face looking like this.
But Condit’s combination was no fluke.
Brandon Gibson, Condit’s striking coach at Jackson’s-Winkeljohn’s, tweeted a video this morning showing that elbows were very much part of the gameplan for the welterweight bout on Saturday night.
